Before the early morning rays had touched the Smokey Mountains, Megan, Craig & I journeyed from Asheville through an hour & a half of winding gravel roads in the pitch dark. Aside from being slightly questionable as far as safety & sanity might’ve been concerned, the lack of sleep was worth the view of stars peppering the sky in their full glory. We ascended through the trees & arrived at Max Patch right as the sun’s glow began to warm up the horizon line. The knife-carved layers of mountain ridges rose above the sleepy fog that nestled in each valley for a view that was worth it all. We played in the fields, ran around like youths, and had one heck of a good time. Here are some photos :).
