Elegant Cocktail-Inspired Wedding At The National Cathedral || Jaime & Matthew

Jaime & Matthew jam-packed their wedding day with absolute goodness from beginning to end. They combined their faith, love for cocktails, and sweet thoughtfulness into one baller wedding day that took place at Hogwarts. (Also known as the National Cathedral.) This place is stunning – every corner is full of incredibly detailed architecture that begs to have its photo taken. And I was allll in. Our portraits started with a joyfully tearful first look in the Bishop’s Garden under an arch of stone & moss. We then meandered through the gardens with their sweet bridal party, getting all angles of the towering historical monument in the background. A few minutes before Jaime walked down the jaw-dropping aisle to Matthew, we snuck up to the 7th floor of the Gothic tower for some photos even your grandmother would get hyped about. Once Jaime & Matthew sealed their vows with a kiss, they hopped in their car to drive over to their own personal cocktail hour at their favorite unmarked speakeasy, The Gibson. With me in the backseat LOLOL. Lit by three tealight candles in the prohibition-style bar, Jaime & Matthew’s faces were filled with joy & excitement as they recalled their first date at the exact same spot 39 months ago to the day. With my ISO (a photo term for blah blah blah) cranked all of the way up on my camera, the rhythmic grain in these photos has me giddy & inspired by that old timey grit & smokey timelessness. We then hopped back in their car to meet their guests at the Eastern Market where they celebrated the night away with great food, laughs, and a packed dance floor. Jaime & Matthew, thanks for remembering Hunter & I from 6 years ago when we photographed our 5th wedding ever. We count it all a blessing to have crossed your paths again & look forward to grabbing more cocktails with you in the future ;).
